Clinics and Services

Blood tests

Blood tests are taken at Horsham Hospital phlebotomy department. They operate an online appointment system called SwiftQueue. This trust-wide service will allow patients to book blood test appointments in advance.

Patients can go to the online booking website, to make their GP Blood Test appointment in advance. Patient’s family members should be encouraged to make appointments online for them, if they themselves have no access to online services.

Patients unable to access the online booking system can book appointments by calling the Helpdesk on 03006 134117 between Monday and Friday 8am to 8pm

Patients who have additional requirements e.g. needle phobia or other issues can add this to their appointment so that any reasonable adjustments can be made.

Please note that if a patient is more than 15 minutes late for their appointment, they will have the choice of either waiting until the next available slot that day if there is one available or rebooking for another day.

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination programme

The RSV vaccination programme started in September 2024

RSV is one of the common viruses that cause coughs and colds in winter.

In most people, RSV infection causes a mild respiratory illness, but for a small number of people who are at risk of more severe respiratory disease, it might cause pneumonia or even death.

Eligible patient cohorts for this programme are:

  • Adults aged 75 to 79 (these patients will remain eligible until they reach 80 years and will not be eligible thereafter)
  • Pregnant women (from 28 weeks of pregnancy but before 36 weeks)

We will be holding clinics at the surgery during September onwards and will be in contact with eligible patients

X-rays

X-rays are ordered online by your GP and you will need to call Horsham Hospital X-ray department on 01403 227000 to make an appointment. They are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 4.30pm

For Chest X-rays there is a walk-in service.

An X-ray is a widely used diagnostic test to examine the inside of the body. X-rays are a very effective way of detecting problems with bones, such as fractures. They can also often identify problems with soft tissue, such as pneumonia or breast cancer.

If you have a X-ray, you will be asked to lie on a table or stand against a surface so that the part of your body being X-rayed is between the X-ray tube and the photographic plate.

An X-ray is usually carried out by a radiographer, a healthcare professional who specialises in using imaging technology, such as X-rays and ultrasound scanners.
